What is the difference between normal concrete and imprinted paving?

What is the best option for long term and less maintenance? This is for front side. Approx. 56 SQ meters.

Please share your thoughts. Thanks again

Between a concrete driveway and imprint paving, the difference is substantially aesthetic (and initial cost)

The imprint concrete tends to be smoother and so may require slightly more regular cleaning, especially if shaded.

The colour in imprinted concrete can fade over time so would suggest that you view older work by your preferred contractor

If your query related to concrete paving slabs (as opposed to poured concrete slab), a very significant difference would be substrate and overall thickness. Paving slabs and generally about 2”/50mm and laid on a hardcore mix. It will be more subject to differential settlement than poured concrete (imprinted or otherwise). This differential settlement will be increased if vehicular traffic.

If you use a concrete slab under the paving, you will go a long way towards avoiding differential settlement but you will also go towards equalizing the cost differential

As above, pattern imprinted is higher initial cost. In reality it is normal concrete with a dry shake / colour / hardener / imprint on the to surface.

It all gets completed as one jointless slab. It is important you choose a contractor with good expertise of this - as repair of this is a nightmare.

However you can usually choose the effect you are going for - cobbles, paving, bricks or whatever. The fact that it has a hardener helps it be more durable and hard wearing and looks exponentially better than standard concrete.

    Good luck

Make sure steel mesh is put down under it.
We've had it 10 years. Ive resealed it twice. Just buy a drum of sealent and a brush!

Got a cost for this recently. budget €40/50/m2 for the placing, floating, colour, printing and sealing of concrete.

    Thanks Guys,

got 50 euros per M2 for cobble lock paving from North-side drive ways. This has been completed now.

    Thanks again for your suggestion.
