    Hi,

We are gonna be starting a new build in a few weeks and have UFH upstairs and down. In the living room we currently have a stove shown in the plans.

I would be interested in hearing if people have UFH and have a stove, do you use the stove in the winter or is it just for looks?

    Thanks

Well completely depends on your Heat pump, insulation, airtightness and general BER rating when finished.
However for the most people, Me included, Stove is pure cosmetics.

You could consider a storage heater for the living room instead. If you have solar PV you could divert excess electricity yo iy and top use it as a top up when everyone is just sitting around at night. You could just wire for it without putting it in.

Having said all of that. my son as a wood burning stove in his "A2" rated house and often lights it for cosmetic and top up purposes.

It will be mostly cosmetic and top-up I'd say

    What's your heat source?

“Room sealed” Stove is handy to have in event of power cut. Also wire for a generator.

Think carefully about position of heat pump. You won’t have much choice, but a few inches here or there might hide it from the view out the window.

Thanks, it's not in sight when you are sitting in the living room.
Didn't think if a power cut which it would come in handy!

    Decisions to be made :)
