Question about why companies post vacancies indefinitely and some other stuff.

I've applied for a company ages ago but I haven't heard anything back from them, except for one role wherein I got a message back saying that I haven't been shortlisted for an interview. There's also another role that was advertised but was taken down and I haven't received any notifications about it at all. However, there are few others that are still on advertisement for months now and all of which I applied for but I haven't heard anything back from them. Why do companies post an ad for a role for months but never answer?

Also, I would appreciate an honest opinion to my following question because I admit that my work history has been sketchy. Is it possible that I have been blacklisted by the company? I was just googling there that it is possible to be blacklisted by individual organisations if you've pestered them too much, such as sending them too much application. And I have to disclose that I may have also sent them my first application where I omitted a relevant work experience that I had because it didn't work out. I'd have thought that maybe employers remove your details after a certain length of time, but it was stupid of me because I didn't think that my candidate profile in employer database could be accessed 100% by employers (it's their database after all!).

Not answering is normal these days. Even for real jobs.

Many are fake jobs. Lots of reasons, collecting info etc.

    You are over thinking it.

That's what I think as well even for real jobs. But it's still a dick move to jobseekers don't you think? Candidates have to put up these niceties and conform to convoluted expectations to avoid pissing off employers and get the job, but employers think they're somehow above common manners.

If you're really interested in the roles, simply follow it up. Give them a call and ask. Not an email, they're easy to ignore/disregard. A call.

Although I thought it would be seen as being pushy/desperate?

I don't know, like I said in another reply, work ethic is hard to figure out. You'd think one thing is the expected behaviour but turns out to be the opposite.

Just forget about it and move on. They've got a few hundred cv's every time. It's just like spam.

Eventually you learn to ignore adds which are generic. And those which have been up for a while.

When I was job hunting I found most companies to never respond, even in some cases when I made it through a round or two of the process I'd get radio silence, and some of these were big household names and multinationals and not even a generic rejection email.

Had the same issue some time back. Interviewed for a role, second interview took ages to arrange but it went well. At this point I knew the job wasn't for me so I didn't chase.

That said, the employer didn't come back to me for 6 months to enquire as to whether or not I was still interested. Apparently, they had some budgetary issues which meant they had to put the role on ice. Fine, but you could have informed me.

And no, I'm not interested anymore...

Seems that the consensus here is that I shouldn't worry too much. I'll call the company tomorrow and see what the story is.

    Thanks!
