BMW or Audi

Looking to buy myself a decent car after years of 'making do'. I wouldn't be an expert by any means so seeking some advice before I go seek more advice before I purchase.
Essentially I am looking for an Audi (A4 or A5) or a BMW in 2014/ 2015 range at max £13000. There are loads of good options online, and the likelihood is that I'll go to a reputable dealer in England for the purchase to save a few quid.
I prefer the look of the Audi but I appreciate that's a very 1D view. When I read reviews and advice most seem to nod towards the BMW as being a better car.
I appreciate very little to go on here, but any advice would be welcomed.

Have you preference for saloon or coupe?
Which BMW are you looking at?
    3 or 4 series I imagine.
To be honest, it's personal preference. See the cars, drive the cars, pick your favourite.
Neither is better than the other and most people go with wither brand loyalty or looks which is subjective.

I'll make a suggestion though, look at a6 and 5 series. My personal opinion is they are a lot more car for the money
