    Hi,

I am open to advice on how to tackle this recent problem.
For two days now, ( Yesterday and today ) my fuse box trips the circuit for the hall and landing lights.
This can be when the lights are on or not.
The trip can be reset and all is good.
    Then it goes again.
Today at 09.00, again at 19.30 and 21.00.
Yesterday was a few times, but nothing overnight.

    Any ideas !!

    Thanks..

    Jay

These lights won't be on the circuit by themselves so you need to figure out what other lights are on the circuit and then try to figure out which one is tripping the mcb.

With respect the solution is, quite obviously, to contact an Electrician.
Continuously resetting onto a fault is not clever.

Thanks, this is what I was missing.
I thought they would be on their own.

    Again, I agree.
What I am trying to do is eliminate as many lights as possible, before contacting an electrician.
Problem is there are 30 approx light fittings involved.
Old house, but reasonable newish wiring.

    Any other suggestions/ tips welcomed.

    Thanks

    Jay.

An electrician will most likely be able to find the problem relatively easily I would think. As already stated the worst thing you can do is to keep resetting the breaker as it may be a fire hazard.

The only advice that you should be given is to call an electrician.

    Hi,

Just as an update / conclusion.
    I found the cause.
One switch was half on / half off, and tripped when it was passed / door slammed, etc.
However as Adio 79 says, it's a job for an electrician.

    Thanks for all.

    Jay
