TMJ disorder?

I believe I have a problem with my jaw - every time I open my mouth or chew I am getting a 'crunching' sensation especially on the RHS. I've been having hearing issues on the same side for over 6 months, I've been to an ENT and had a hearing test (which confirmed moderate hearing loss) but now I'm wondering is it actually temporomandibular joint (TMJ) disorder? Other symptoms include my head feeling stuffy a lot of the time and some mild sinus headaches that come and go. I went to see an acupuncturist a few weeks ago and as she was providing treatment, she mentioned by neck muscles were very stiff. I'm getting really fed up at this stage as the hearing loss is affecting me socially.

Can anyone recommend a course of action? I've made a dentist's appointment (he can't see me for a few weeks). Last time I got a filling (abut a year ago) he commented on some notable wearing of my back teeth which he thought might be caused by teeth grinding (something I have never noticed). I've noticed the filling did affect my bite slightly and every now and again, it 'catches'. Funnily enough, the hearing issues started not too long after I got the filling. Would a nightguard make any difference or could the filling be the root cause causing an imbalance (large one on my left back molar, opposite to the side with the hearing loss)?

I only have very limited experience but was getting some jaw pain a few years ago so went to my dentist who referred me to a maxillofacial surgeon, so I think thats the general course of action.

He said it was TMJ and I got some exercises to do which solved the problem for me. Actually the dentist did get a nightguard for me too which i wore for a while - not really sure if it helped or not. Apparently i clench my teeth in my sleep so thats why it happens to me.
