    Hi

I might have to make a trip down the county this week. Looks like the chargers I’ll need are:

    Shannon
    Newcastlewest
    Macroom
Clonakilty (not rapid, but that’s ok)

Anyone used these recently? Are the working?

    Thanks in advance.

a charger can fail at any time so you cannot plan a trip relying on the pubic network in the same was as relying on gas stations.
You need to plan on having multiple chargers at your stops or else have enough in the tank to bring you to another one
have you looked at cars/zappie/plugshare for status updates

Yeah, I agree. I know they can fail at any time. Just thought any Boarders that used them recently might post an update. I don’t normally rely on the public network at all, but unusual personal circumstances over the next few days may mean I have to.

I might just take a cautious approach and top up at every rapid that I pass (Galway to Limerick is well serviced, but Limerick to Clonakilty is patchy.....I wouldn’t choose to go via Newcastlewest and Macroom in an ICE).

I use PlugShare, but not everyone checks in and updates when they charge. It would be great if everyone used it! I find Zap-Map and e-cars to be almost as unreliable as the chargers themselves!

Plugshare should be automatically updated when you scan your card at the charger.

Really? I thought you had to manually check in with PlugShare?

Yes thats correct! But it *should* do it automatically, ie the app should be updated with the additional functionality
I wonder if the creator of the app could link with ecars to get the live data

    Ah, okay. I see.

I know that Zap-Map gets data from ecars, but it doesn’t always seem to be up to date.

    Wayne

Join the Irish EV Owners facebook group and ask there. Regular enough updates on which chargers are working etc.

    There's 2 national facebook groups:
1 - Irish EV Owners Association (Approx 2000 members)
2 - Irish EV Owners (Approx 1400 members)

Then there's a plethora of regional groups:
    NI Ev Owners
    EV owners Galway
    EV owners Clare
    Cork Rebel EV owners.

And some others I probably havent seen or joined

    Thanks

I’m not on Facebook, but I’m aware of those groups, and they certainly are useful. Just a pity they’re focused on FB.

The last time I tried the Clonakilty SCP it was down eventhough it looked good on the map. That was a month or so ago. I updated ZapMap at the time. I would not rely on that being available to you unless someone can confirm they got a charge from it since then.

FWIW, the Macroom FCP was working fine when I used it a month ago.

I think that's the feed for the Zap Map app too.

I had forgotten that one. I think a boardsie developed that a year or so ago using the API that is available to the eCars data.

So, it is effectively polling the exact same data that is displayed on the eCars map and then showing it over time, which is useful to see reliability.

The only issue is it doesnt disparage between Chademo and CCS.
Similarly to the ESB helpdesk marking CCS points as online because a successful chademo charge occurred.

(This is a fault with the data source and not with CPINFO itself)

If you think about it, the purpose of the data is to show when the charge point is available and not available. If someone is charging on the Chademo, the CCS is not available.

On CPInfo, it does differentiate between the AC and DC options. AC shows as not in use if only the CCS or Chademo is in use. This is because, in most cases, you can actually use the AC while the Chademo or CCS are in use.

It also differentiates between CCS and Chademo when it comes to the out of service status. If only CCS is out of service, only CCS shows as out of service.

Yes but it marks the charger as working when there's a CCS issue and the chademo worked or vice versa. A messy way imo

    That's wrong.

The e-cars map has an option to filter by CCS or Chademo, but Chademo is selected by default.

If you select CCS in the filer option (checkbox at the top), what displays is the status of the CCS side.

You can see that right now at Roscrea, where Chademo is working and CCS is not.

Select Chademo and you see the normal icon suggesting it is working. Select CCS and you see a big red X through it.

CPInfo uses the same data and works the same way. Select "CCS" from the dropdown list and click the submit button. You will see Roscea shows as out of service. Select Chademo and you will see that it shows as available.

Take a step back and re-read what I said.

If - in your example for instance - the CCS is out. We've seen instances before that the chargers were marked back online when a DC charge is completed.

I see no evidence of that at Roscrea. The Chademo has been used plenty of times since the CCS went out of service on February 23. I don't see a single instance of the CCS showing as online in that time. It has shown as out of service the entire time.

If they';ve fixed it then great but i've seen it reported here and on facebook that site visits to faulty chargers were cancelled based on the other DC side working
