Hi, i have 3 cast iron fireplaces that i am thinking of restoring. Currently painted white. I did a test patch with nitromors and it looks like 2 coats of paint. The cast iron looks fairly rusty though, would this be a big issue? Would the below method work ok or is there a better way of doing this?

How rusty are they? Is it just surface rust? Or is it pitting and starting to for holes. Honestly, if they will come off the wall easily, sandblasting them is the easiest way to clean them.
