Question Regarding Uni Entry

I apologise if this seems like a ridiculous question but I can't seem to find a recent and relevant answer online!

I am currently finishing up a PLC course, after which I will have (hopefully!) gained a QQI level 5 award. I did my leaving cert in 2017 and deferred a course through CAO. Thinking I wouldn't want to go to college or uni, I (stupidly) did not re-apply to CAO before the 1st Feb.

My question is; will I have to wait to apply to Uni until I am a mature student? I am looking to do a physiotherapy course, which I know is difficult to get into - would I be better off going abroad? My PLC course is unrelated to physiotherapy completely.

Any info would be greatly appreciated! Thank you.
