Secondhand car tyre advice Mazda 6 08

I picked up a second hand Mazda 6 (08) with 18" wheels and want some advise on tyres please. Front has Powertrac-City racing tyres and the back has Blacklion Champoint BU66.
I have cash to replace 2 now and 2 later. Which two should I replace now and should I put new ones on front or back? Both have the same thread left and in the same condition.

These tyres are rated as 72/73db noise rating. The new ones will be 68/69db. Will I notice much of a differance do you think? This era Mazda is relatively poorly sound proofed so tyre noise is high at the moment.

Put the new tyres on the front. Both brands of tyres you currently have are cheap Chinese budget tyres so it makes no difference which you replace.

I have the same car and yeah there’s a lot of tyre noise regardless of what tyres you go for.

What make/model tyres are you buying?

Thanks for the quick reply. Yes they do seem to be fairly loud as regards road noise and I know 18" will be that bit louder. I find the road noise about the same as my 04 avensis which is poor! You dont think Ill notice much of a difference with a much quiter rated tyre?

Very quick initial look and I am thinking of these:

Those are exactly what I have on my 2013 Mazda 6, 19s though. I've stuck with them, happy with them. They are lovely and quiet when new and give great grip. They do get noisier as they wear but just put them on the back when that happens.

Cheers for the reply. Is the price in the link about what I should expect to pay? Are you based in Dublin? I want to go somewhere that wont make **** of the alloys when fitting, any recommendations?

This is where I bought at the time, 19s are a lot more expensive. I think they were 180 when I bought but have gone up since. Price includes shipping to your door.

New tyres should always go on the rear axle of any car.

    Google why....its an eye opener.

Don't forget to get quotes for fitting, or even better tyres, before ordering. A few places will match online prices.

    Always? Im not convinced.

Which between the blacklion champoint tyre and the power trac city racing would be marginally better for keeping for now? Im thinking the blacklion?

Only on a RWD car. I’d prefer the tyres that actually turn and steer the car to have the best grip As long as the rears aren’t bald then always put the new tyres on the front of s FWD car.

New tyres goes on the rear on any car.
It's better to feel the grip on the fronts slip rather than the rears slip (which will be a disaster).

The face of the service manager when I demanded to put the tyres the way they were before the service (better to the back) - priceless...

My fitter mentioned that the only other people to request what I request are the Guards and Ambulance drivers.
