Part Time Job Incentive after TUS Scheme

    Hi All

I am confused at the moment about J.A. payments and getting back to work.

Basically I have a medical card and I did a TUS scheme for one year between Sept 2016 and Sept 2017 after being unemployed for several years before this, after the TUS scheme I signed up again with J.A. (193 p/w) I have been looking for full time work (but have not come by any so far)

I have now just got an opportunity for some part time work (12-20hrs p/w), I have looked at the schemes available to me an i see the part time job incentive where i would get a weekly payment of €123 and can work up too 24 hour part time. I'm not sure i am entitled to claim this though since it states you need to be out of work 15 months before beginning the scheme. Is TUS in 2016 considered back to work so i have not been out of work for the 15 months and only out of work 7 months since last Sept?

Also if the PTJI scheme is not for me can I still take up this part time job and get some J.A

The job will only be paying 115 - 150 p/w so would i be entitled to 43eur from Social? Also will my medical card be effected by the part time job. Also what happens for the weeks i only get the odd or no day, this may happen when the business is quieter in the winter?

Thanks and Apologies for all the questions, just very confused about this at the moment

Correct. So you aren't eligible for PTJI.

Also if the PTJI scheme is not for me can I still take up this part time job and get some J.A.

Also what happens for the weeks i only get the odd or no day, this may happen when the business is quieter in the winter?

You can get JA in any week when your part-time work is spread over three days a week or less.

"If you get part-time or casual work (up to and including 3 days per week), you may still be paid Jobseeker's Allowance for the other days. However, you must show that you are trying to get full-time employment. If your employer reduces your days at work to 3 days week or less, you may get Jobseeker's Allowance for the other days. You must meet the other conditions that apply to Jobseeker's Allowance, for example, you must satisfy a means test."

Also will my medical card be affected by the part time job.

    No.

    "Change in employment status

You may be able to keep your medical card if you start full-time work, after you have been unemployed for 12 months. You would need to have received a full rate social welfare payment for a continuous 12 month period.

If you start part-time work after you've been unemployed for 12 months or more, you may keep your medical card for 3 years."
