Just checking RTE Aertel, it seems there was even more engineering work at Kippure this week affecting FM services.

What’s the deal at Kippure, anyone know? The fm transmitter must be the most repaired in the country!

Kippure is to get a height extension as part of the clearance programme, new antennas on the Kippure mast will be 18m higher, this could be related work. Less than 18 months remaining to complete all transmitter work.

Expect to see a lot of transmitter work over the months ahead, especially the summer months.

Cush, any chance they're going to upgrade the signal from 3rock? I get that signal on an indoor aerial in the bedroom but the mux with RTE1 TV comes and goes ....

I'd have to look through the documents to see if there is any clearance work planned for Three Rock. Didn't realise one mux was operating at lower power or different radiation pattern.

I don't think it's down to power or radiation pattern, this phenomenon has been reported by several posters in relation to different transmitters when using an indoor aerial - one mux good, the other non-existent or variable with good and bad days. It's probably that my indoor (UHF) aerial's optimum range includes one but not both frequencies.
