Hi Rubidoo, As far as I know there is a laser treatment you can get which significantly improves symptoms. You would probably have to go private so could be costly unless you have health insurance. Like most chronic illnesses stress plays a huge role. Doctor's often dismiss the effects of stress because it is impossible to measure. But as someone who has suffered from eczema/psoriasis my whole life I know that stress plays a huge role.

I got this in my early 30s, an absolute nightmare, I got laser treatment like swiveller suggested and that helped, gave up red meat and hot food and apply non perfumed simple face cream every day, mine is totally under control now.good luck

Go and see a well regarded Chinese medicine practitioner, what they can do with acne and roseaca is phenomenal. And I agree with you that mental health issues definitely affects skin. Talk to the practitioner about both.

Endured this for over 2 years. Doctor referred me to a specialist, so I made regular large contributions to the upkeep of the private rooms in Fitzwilliam Square vicinity - to no avail. Well to be fair, marginal improvements were observed, but the medications caused split and bleeding lips.

tried diets, magic potions, you name it.

One day in the chemist's I asked to speak to the pharmacist. I asked him the best prescription treatment for my spots/redness. He was reluctant to be seen to be suggesting anything (must be afraid of upsetting the doctor) so I said "what is the most prescribed treatment, in your experience?" and he told me Clarythromycin (check spelling, I no longer have the box).

I went back to the doc and asked to be put on these. Immediate improvement, and after about 4 months it was gone - that was 2 years ago. I was on about 80-100mg if I remember correctly.

So after spending hundreds on specialists and top end medications and creams and face washes, a cheapo antibiotic did the trick.

My spots were confined to my face, were angry but not yellow, and the surrounding skin was red - sort of sunburned looking. It started with three small red marks on one cheek, that wouldn't go away, and within about 4 months it had gone rampant. I always believed it was something bacterial which I had picked up in work (it was a new job), and I think the cure supported that theory.

    Hope this is useful.

edit: BTW, after 40 years spot free, I was 58 when this started.
