Air & oil filter query

    Hey All,

    I currently have a 2012 Renault Megane 1.5dci with 41,000km.

I'm looking to purchase an oil & air filter and give them to my mechanic friend who is going to give it a full service. My query is which oil & air filters are best for my car? Cost doesn't come into play, I'm a person who prefers to spend that little bit extra!!

So I've been looking at K&N air filters and they're priced around €50 but I'm unable to find a K&N oil filter though :( Any ideas?

Is Blueprint and Mann decent/trustworthy brands when it comes to oil/air filters?

I've checked Mick Garage and they recommend Blueprint, Mann & JapanParts
    (https://www.micksgarage.com/d/oil-filters/renault/renault-megane/megane-hatchback-2008-to-2016/1-5-dci-86-1461/products)

    Thanks all :)

If cost isn't a factor get genuine filters at the main dealers.

Mann is decent too but you'll probably pay as much for it.

Blueprint usually have very good filters also but they are more geared towards japanese cars so I don't know how the filters are for euro makes.

K&N are very overrated filters, both air and oil.
The best quality aftermarket filters would IMO be Mahle/Knecht and Mann.
I don't know what Renault use for their OEM stuff but its likely to come from those two makers or perhaps Purflux which are French.
OEM stuff can be bought pretty reasonably from the Main dealers they aren't always expensive for that kind of thing.
I would never opt for a K&N filter myself.

I had a K&N washable panel filter in my Celica and i thought it was a nice compliment to the car. Even though it claims to be a lifetime filter they don't represent great economy for €50~ for the filter and €10 for the cleaner.

For the likes of this if you want to get good stuff I'd agree with probably buying genuine filters from a dealer. The receipt would look good in the service history. Might as well do a fuel filter too at that age even though the mileage is low if its never had one before.

Genuine filters aren't that expensive so may aswell go with those if price doesn't matter

If money isn't an issue just go genuine. Otherwise I usually go for Mahle (knecht) or Mann.
