Herself bought a car from a garage a month ago this afternoon.

She still has no logbook and in turn can't tax it

Been onto garage, UK import, takes times as wasn't registered before, can't do it online because of that.

Rang last week and he said might have to get duplicate and be done in 5 working days, which would be say this Wednesday

Onto Shannon they said its registered to the garage

Do I give him that long? Is all this normal?

Dealer should have transferred ownership to you, it can be done by the online nearly instantly these days if they are a proper outfit. If you are the first Irish registered owner then you need to tax the car first before they issue the log book. You should be able to tax it online using the last 6/7 digit's of the car's VIN as the PIN.

That's what I said why don't you do it online and he's telling me about first time and having to do it manually so won't work or be issues. Sounds like excuses

Its registered to the garage and not in the last three months, that's all I can see on motor tax site

I bought a UK import a few weeks ago and the dealer was able to register it here online and issued an Irish reg number almost instantly. Sounds like they are a small or part time dealer who are not signed up to the online registration system or there is an issue with the car's documentation that's preventing them from registering it online.

Go into them and don't leave till it's done online.

There's Irish plates on it and coming up on the motor tax website

I am getting to the point of going in tomorrow and hopefully plenty of people there to see how they do business

Herself rang and played up on being a girl and not knowing about cars

Should be able to tax it by Tuesday, says had to do duplicates for it and three other cars.

Again sounds like excuses, too lazy to do them or waited to a few built up

AFAIK if it shows up on cartel etc, it’s been taxed.
