Relative bad hearing

    I have a relative in his late seventies with very bad hearing. What exactly are the first steps in getting him a hearing aid. Does he need a referral from a doctor? or do we just walk into some where like specsavers? Do all opticians also do hearing aids?

    If he has a medical card he will get on free from the hse but would prob need to be referred by doctor
