    Hi,

I have noticed ants coming in to the house around the front and back door. My young dog moves freely between rooms so I'm looking for something that is pet safe but will get rid of the ants.

    TIA

You could try a couple of Ant Stations.
They are little plastic yokes with very small holes that the ants crawl into.
Bar the dog eating the whole thing, it should be safe.

I know this sounds barbaric but when I was a child we would find the nest (follow the ants) and pout boiling water into it. Never failed

Those Ant-Stop plastic puck yokes are the right job.

When we moved in we had a serious ant problem. The nest is/was underneath the back of the house, so they were coming in from behind skirting boards and everything. Came home one day to find the back door literally swarming with them, hundreds of the bastards.

On the advice of nature-loving friend, my wife tried a number of natural "repellents" including grated lemon, vinegar and bay leaves. The dog did eat those. This went on for about a month before she relented and let me put down the puck things. The dog didn't touch it and the ants went away. The next year as soon I saw the first ant, the puck went down and since then we've had no ants at all. Magic.

When I first saw this thread I thought I'd let it run as an exception as pets were involved but posts like the above are precisely the reason we don't allow pest control theads in this forum. OP, maybe try the DIY forum under home and garden.
