Mediathique Report for the BAI recommends DAB+

    The BAI have released a report on future broadcasting developments as part of their consultation on a revised Broadcasting Services Strategy. The report was made by London based consultants Mediathique.

    There's lots in it but one of the main recommendations as regards radio is the serious adoption of DAB+ with one National Multiplex and four regional ones - to increase diversity of services, especially around the country.

    DAB+ is the equivalent of trying to shut the stable door after the horse is bolted.

    Maintaining or slightly expanding our FM network along with complementary internet services is the way forward here. FM is more than sufficient for existing services, compared with the analogue/digital switchover, FM has excellent quality, very widespread reception and most people are happy with it.
