My website spam attack on smart phone

    Hello,

Hopefully this is the right place to post, but I'm really looking for some guidance in the right direction here. I have contacted my hosting company but not sure if this the way to go to get this problem sorted.

It seems my website has recently been hacked. Its a wordpress site. A number of days ago I found blog articles uploaded which I had not worked on, and a message "Hacked by Quaxer" in the webpage tab. I cleared this, and the blog articles. The website is fine when accessed from desktop on all browsers, however when accessed on smartphone, spam messages appear. This is for both iOS and Android, from multiple browsers, in different parts of the world. Whilst I have a limited experience with Wordpress, my web designer is not available.

Any thoughts? Anything I can run in Wordpress to try find the issue? Really have no idea how to approach this.

    Thanks

I work with Joomla so I won't be a huge help here.
But the first thing I would do is change all your passwords for your admin area and your hosting and cpanel. Also update all your plugins and wordpress version.
Usually I would download the site to my local server and use my anti-virus to to scan the websites files and folders. That's something you might need a web designer to do though. But I think there is a wordpress plugin called Wordfence that you can use to scan your website so you could try that.

Just a word of caution though. Its a good idea to backup your website and database before you contact your hosting company. There is always the possibility they will just delete your website. Its
standard procedure with some hosting companies they don't want infected files on their system

My advice would be to get a professional to remove it and ensure it's been secured.

I recommend using the Sucuri service. It's €200/year for the basic service and they should be able to remove the hack and give you advice on securing it, as well as a script to run which scans your site regularly to identify problems immediately.
