Incorrect car info from reg

    Hi all,

I imported a car from the UK back in November last year.

I've noticed that about 50% of the car insurance companies I go to and enter my irish reg into show the car incorrectly listed as:

    2014
    FORD
    FIESTA
    1.0 65PS TITANIUM 5dr
    999cc Petrol Manual

However, this is wrong. My car is the 125PS Titanium X version. This shows correctly on some insurance sites (like Aviva) and motorcheck.ie / Cartell - but wrong on Liberty, AA etc.

    Make FORD
    Model FIESTA
    Description 1.0 TITANIUM X ECOBOOST 125PS 5DR Euro 5
    Engine Capacity 998

Who would i reach out to in order to get this fixed? It's pretty annoying having to manually select the car on some sites. It seems some companys have this correctly registered and the others don't.

    Thanks!

I've the same with my car, an Irish one. Most insurers have the correct detail, others don't. I just either manually enter the details or call.

I had the same issue with a 130i. It 'didn't exist' for some companies. As far as I'm aware, there are about 3 major databases that are run by third parties that store this data and supply it to the companies in question. Your time would be better spent calling when getting insurance for two reasons 1) its nearly always cheaper as online quotes are a tax on the lazy and save the companies money as they don't have to pay someone to talk to you and 2) you can confirm the car details and send in your log book if required.

The database that matters, from the legal sense, is whats written on your log book and as long as that is correct, it's merely a minor annoyance.

Yeah - I normally do quotes online, then gather the best few then call them and haggle.

I'll double check my log book when I get home, like you said thats the important one.

Have the same issue with my car.
Its a diesel but most places online(insurance, car parts) have it listed as a petrol.
Got stung with petrol parts instead of the diesel ones and couldn't return them so now just enter it manually.
