    Hi,
    Long story short.
    I have a 06 e90 Bmw 320si which has a bad oil leak,
Have had IT to same mechanic 5 times and still the same.
Rocker cover gasket replaced, leak back then 2 days later,
Brought it back and they replaced the rocker cover gasket again!! Two days later... oil everywhere again, has been in and out between those two changes twice also,
Just need someone in the Galway area that would be good with bmw!
It’s a Ltd edition model with fully carbon fiber rocker cover.
    Any advice welcome

Where is the oil leaking from? That much oil should be easy to spot. If it's not the rocker cover, could possibly be Vacuum pump at rear of cam? Oil filter housing etc...

The valve cover wouldn't be carbon fibre it would be metal but the rocker cover panel on top would be carbon fibre.

I've been going to Fahy's in oranmore for years now and they're really good. Wouldn't trust my car to anyone else.

Do all high end cars and are reasonable as well.

Looks like it’s coming out right where the cover seals to be honest, around the screws also. Is also leaking into the coil lead on the first cylinder, badly, not causing misfiring or no smoke out exhaust yet!!

Maybe my terminology is incorrect, but the spark plug cover (cap) is carbon fiber
, and also the whole rocker cover itself is carbon fiber also, a replacement oem cover is 800 sterling on eBay !!!!

Just booked it in. Must say even speaking to the woman on the phone , she knew the car inside out! Very impressed. Knew it wasn’t your normal bmw engine!!

On the 335i of the same era, the valve cover is plastic. Mine was cracked and caused same symptoms as you OP. Went to change the gasket and spotted that the problem was the cover itself. So it might be that the valve cover needs replacing.

Wonder if you could pick up a plastic one for a regular 320i.? Would it fit?

Trying to find that out myself. Unfortunately don’t think the reg plastic one will buy can’t say for sure, will see what the diagnosis is next tue as it’s booked in but they sound like they know their cars so feeling much more confident with leaving them the car as the previous mechanic had it 4 times and still the same

Does a metal rocker cover for this engine even exist? The carbon fibre one is a factory fitted cover as far as I can tell. The non-SI cars come with plastic. I'd be taking the rocker cover off and examining it very closely for cracks. Once you know that that is the problem then you can move from there.

Never knew the 320si was even a thing until this thread. Really interesting car.

Yeah not many people seem to know about them. Must say they sound nothing like a normal petrol engine with no valvetronic, have a really nice engine sound. Handling is out of this world though. But want to get it all sorted as I think the time had come for a diesel!!

I know, it's top class. Better than any car show.

They don't advertise to keep the cars and owners private.

Mines in next month for a bonnet respray after a bird **** destroyed it.

I've a decent family wagon, a 2010 jaguar XF S. Thinking of trading in a few kids to get one of those Porsches though :)

Yeah would love something like that myself. Couldn't stomach giving the government that amount of tax though

Fahy's is the real deal, proper professionals. I wouldn't trust anyone else with my car.
