I'm looking to remove the dpf on the above car . I have the remapping side of things sorted it's just taking the dpf out that I'm unsure off

Is there a blanking plate or new section of exhaust needed ? Or can it be bypassed ?

I can't get any real proper information online I'm waiting for registration on a mazda forum the last week so I said I ask here and hopefully someone did it before

With the UK introducing checks for DPF removal at MOT stage it's only a matter of time before it comes here, best avoided.

It will be years yet before that is done here.

To physically remove the dpf, you have to either remove the filter and put in a new exhaust pipe or more commonly is to drill through the dpf filter to clear a path for the exhaust to flow

This old chestnut gets rolled out every time someone asks about DPF removal around here.
The OP asked for advice on how to do it, not whether he should.

Ya I was kind of expecting at least one of those replies ha

I will deal with that if it happens down the line but for now I think it's time for it to go .

I must get it up on the ramp and have a proper look ideally if I don't have to get a new section it would be easier I'll just leave the section of exhaust hollow and get it remapped

I have mine deleted, as others have said above, either drill a dirty big hole through it or crack it open from the top and completely remove the honeycomb from it and weld it back up.

It's not easy to do on a Mazda 6. I've been to a few places and couldn't get anyone to take it and do it. It's in behind the manifold. You need to do a lot of ripping and drop the sub frame to get at it.

We're generally 5 to 6 years behind UK/Europe on these type things but I think with the war being waged against diesels right now in Europe, it may happen here sooner rather than later.

AFAIK it's only a visible check in the UK ie if it's obviously been removed it's a fail.

They don't have the capability in the test to check any deeper.
