Ignition coils - E39 520i

    Hi there,

I'm a little bit confused about which ignition coils to buy for my E39 520i. The Bosch coils which need replacing are part number 0221504004.

When I enter my reg on micksgarage and misterauto, a list of ignition coils is returned which includes some that have a completely different connector. The following returned result looks the same as the coils in my car currently, but have a different part number:

    http://www.mister-auto.ie/en/ignition-coil/bosch-0-221-504-029_g689_a0300!221!504!029.html

Are these just newer versions of the same thing? Should this coil fit my car?

Lastly, is there any advantage of going for Bosch coils, or would cheaper Bolk coils like this do the trick? http://www.mister-auto.ie/en/ignition-coil/bolk-bol-e091175_g689_a999BOL-E091175.html

    Thanks a lot in advance!

Wouldn’t really be to worried about the make if I was u. Most bmw coils are all the same of that generation of bmws. Doesn’t matter if it’s a e39 or e46 or that there the same have changed many a bmw coil in or place. And even today on the new models they give bother

I'd be careful about basing your choice of part on the pictures. They are often inaccurate on the likes o micksgarage. It's all about the part numbers. I'd google around with the bosch part numbers too as others will probably have posted about them on forums.
