    Hi, I am buying a used vehicle on behalf of someone else.
    Is it doable? There is a section on the VLC for the new owner's signature...
    How would this work?

    New owner has to sign it
    You can't buy for someone else really as cars must be registered.

    I could buy a car in your name, speed around in it and get you in trouble

    You also need to legally own a car to insure it

    Can I ask why you are doing this? Is it a surprise for someone?

    If you have their permission to do so I wouldn't worry as long as they want you to actually buy it.

    I purchased a car for a friend before and signed it on their behalf. They got the logbook in the post and all was good.
