    Hi,

Just wondering if anybody has any recommendations regarding getting a private medical checkup?

I hit 40 recently and want to start a practise of getting maybe a bi-annual checkup. Was looking at Mater Private, Beacon and a few others but don't really know what the difference is between what is being offered. I presume a full medical is looking at around €500 or so which is grand.

I searched around and couldn't find any thread like this and wasn't actually sure if this even the best place to post this, so apologies if this is not the right spot!

A GP will do that for a lot less than €500. That is what they do - General medicine.
If you have some family history of concern, or other finding requiring investigation, the GP will then refer you to a private specialist who will address those concerns appropriately - & charge accordingly.
If you have had a GP for a while, they should be very much aware of your medical history & be able to address your concerns.
