Immobiliser light on constant red...

Apologies if this is the wrong place to ask..

03 Nissan Micra, changed the throttle body sensor 2 weeks ago following diagnostics check. Mechanic said there was a chance the ECU could also go which it did on Friday and was replaced yesterday. (He discounted the cost of the throttle body sensor replacement which I felt was fair.)

After collecting the car the immobiliser light (which normally flashes before starting the car) came on steady after about 10 mins driving. I brought it back to the mechanic and he said it should be OK to keep driving and come back if any problems.

Is it just a case of all the recent work has interfered with this light? Is there a chance the car could break down? I know an immobiliser is a security feature but I don't actually know what it is/does..

The immobilizer is a security feature the key and the ECU need be paired so that is the only key that will start the car (in some cars the Key,ECU and instrument cluster need to be synced) the fact it's red means the key probably hasn't been programmed to the new ECU - which is weird as if so then the car shouldn't start at alll or start and immediately cut out.

There is a chance the mechanic did some sort of immobilizer by pass or disable (which is not the end of the world as long as he informs you) I would go back and ask for more info than 'should be ok' or take it to someone more familiar with nissan ECUs.
