Finglas testing centre

    Hi all,
I have my first test in Finglas next week. I'm not familiar with the area (will be doing several pre test lessons there this week).

I'm just wondering, what aspects of the route did people find the most difficult? For example are there very narrow streets for the three point turn? Awkwardly busy/obstructed corners for the reverse around?

Any help would be great, I'm pottering about with my accompanying driver in my locality practicing manoeuvres but he doesn't have time to travel to Finglas with me before my pre-test lessons so it'd help to know what the sticking points are that are particular to the area.

Also I heard tell awhile back that road markings are very faded out there, is this still the case?

    Thanks,
    Jade

Passed my test last June in Finglas.
Actually had a relatively straightforward test on the day but will mention some of the trickier things we had practiced.

One particularly tricky turn I practiced was turning left from Jamestown Road on to Clancy Avenue. You have to slow down, change onto second and just as you approach the turn, change to 1st gear. It's a very tight turn. You need to make sure you keep as left as you can without hitting the path. Didn't do it on the day but must have practiced it 20 times the week before.

Turning right from Ballymun Road onto Griffith Avenue and staying straight on Griffith Avenue. Lane management is key.

Turning left on to Finglas main street from (I think) Ballygall Rd W. You need to stop before the junction as you're blocked from seeing pedestrians by the pub. Then creep and peep up to the junction.

If I think of anything else I'll post it up.

Thanks a mill Monaco! I'll try practice similar scenerios in my locale until I get to those pre tests!

Coming out of the test centre, it's a solid white line. You must stop, can catch you out. It's not the worst route or area in fairness. If you do a few pre-tests it will be all pointed out to you.

Just watch observation and hazard perception in some of the estates the roads can get narrow.

Now I am driving a truck around, but there is an awful turn from Jamestown into Clune Road which is unsuspectingly tight! Careful with some of the junctions, anyone in them play it safe and wait it out, mate failed on that one.

There is a right turn from Mobhi Road onto Mobhi Drive that can be a tuff one.

Know the roundabouts, plenty of them dotted all over the place. Bus lanes can catch you out, so watch out for them also!
