Does anyone know how one might find out where volunteer help is wanted on an archaeological dig in Ireland or Britain?

I am not a qualified archaeologist, but would be interested in helping out on a dig in Summer.

Try NUIG Dept of History in Galway. They do an online and/or part time diploma in Archeology which also includes some digs. They may have something running over the summer
