Tax book issue

I bought a car last month and after alot of wasted patience i have found out today(from shannon) that the tax book was not sent to them. Previous owner/seller cannot be contacted now although he has last week assured me that he sent it to the tax office.

Anyone had this problem before, and how did you sort it if you did?

    Thanks.

I'd maybe give it a little while longer before you have to go through the process.

Hope it works out for you without having to do all the below

Can you not call back to the seller's address and ask them or was it a sale conducted in a car park? Did you sign the logbook at the time of buying the car?

It was a car park purchase because i couldn't find my way around the estate.
Yep, i signed the tax book and filled in all my details.

It's probably sitting at their home and forgotten about. If you have their address then I'd make efforts to call to them. Either that or get a few parking fines to refresh their memory to post it off. The other option is to do as posted by the person above.

A little late now but on a side note it's always worth bringing your own addressed envelope when buying so that you both can pop it into the nearest postbox to avoid this sort of thing.

I had contacted him last week and he swears he sent it in.
Anyway i just rang shannon for the statutory declaration form and they are sending it out today.

I think your right, a few toll fees and parking fees should motivate him a bit.

Keep an eye on the change of ownership status on motortax.ie too in case they just didn't process it yet in Shannon.
