Lawnmower Handle fix

    Hi guys and gals.

So during our summer last week I decided to cut the grass.
As we only rent I used the mother in laws mower and as I finished the lower handle of the mower snapped. When I say snapped I mean sheared in half. I looked at buying a new part and fitting it myself but as it is now no longer manufactured the parts are so expensive I'd be better off buying her a new mower altogether.

However, barring the snapped metal the machine is in perfect working order. Has anyone any ideas on how I could fix it myself? I am pretty handy with all things wood, construction and decorating but metalworking is not something I have ever done.
I have thought about a splint (made with two pieces of metal secured with rivets) but not sure if it should hold. Would really prefer a good secure job as it's the mother in laws!
    All help gratefully received.

Assuming the handle is a bent tube is it the tube bit sheared or at the end of the tube, where it's normally crimped into a flat'ish/curved piece ? Pics ?

ring about some of the local mower shops, they likely have scrap mowers about that you could get a complete handle of.
The hardware will just swap over.

It is the crimped end..... I will upload pics tomorrow when I am at a pc. Could it be soldered I wonder..... Turns out the brother in law may have left it out in the rain for a few weeks apparently.....

The tube in those is too light for any weld, if someone had a torch it could probably be brazed but the number of lads with brazing rigs are near zero.
Soldering is for different application, so no.

There is a lawnmower shop in mount merrion county dublin and he may well have a second hand part for you. Derek
