Renewing licence - residency question

Hi - I've a question regarding the application for renewing my driver's license, and hoping this is the right forum to ask for information/advice.

While filling out the form, there's a question in Part 3 (Part 3 concerns exchanging a license - which I'm not doing, by the way - but I'm assuming that I need to fill out all parts of this form, even if it's only to tick in the 'no' box) - there's a final question (Question 19, to be exact) that is asking for the date the applicant took up residence in Ireland.

I'm originally from the US, but have been living in Ireland with my Irish national hubby for the past 20 years, and I have post-nuptial citizenship, as well as an Irish passport (and a US passport).

So...here's my question: what date do I actually write in for answering this specific question? Is it the date I/we moved to Ireland and put the key in the front door of our home? Is it the day I received official Irish citizenship? Those are two different dates, by the way - that's why the question is a bit vague and slightly confusing as to which is the 'official' and/or 'correct' date to give them.

Any help would be most appreciated; thanks in advance.

Don't overthink it, it doesn't matter really.

Thanks, Grogi. That's exactly what my hubby told me. :o

    Thanks, OSI.

As I've already ticked 'no' to the first two questions of that part, though, should I go ahead and fill in the date of the residency question, or should I just ignore it altogether, at this point, even though I've filled in/ticked the first two questions in that part.

Hi again - I've yet another question regarding filling out the form to renew my driver's license.

On my current license (issued in 2008), there is a restriction Code 01, which I know refers to the fact that I must wear corrective lenses/eyeglasses in order to drive.

As nothing has changed in that regard - I still do wear eyeglasses (or contact lenses), just as I did initially, when I applied for my driver's license in 2008 - do I still need to fill out an eyesight report and have my vision re-checked by an optometrist?

On the form, it does indicate that I would need to have my optometrist or GP re-examine my vision IF I had previous needed corrective lenses to see/drive, but have since had my vision corrected (i.e., laser surgery) and no longer require corrective lenses/eyeglasses. I've asked my optometrist about this, and she said that, as far as she is aware, if I still need to wear corrective lenses, and nothing has changed from my driver's license as far as the Restriction Code (Code 01), that there's no requirement for another eye exam, and no requirement on my part to have an eyesight form filled out at all.

She also did say, though, that as things change every couple of years, this might not be the case any longer.

I've emailed NDLS today, and am awaiting a response as to whether or not I do need (or don't need) to have an eyesight report filled out (as well as an eye exam done).

Anyone know for sure what the story is, as far as the eyesight report goes when it's for a renewed driver's license?

Thanks very much in advance for any help/advice you can offer.
