Is there a market for these things?
There's one lying around, dunno if it's working or not.

old gaming systems work best with CRT tv's, not sure would monitors have the right connections though

Yep, stick it up for a tenner or so on adverts. If it's really old it might be worth more.

It's mad really... Was reading the "oldest thing you have" thread and thinking about all that stuff we had in the 80s that worked pretty much forever, was often arguably better than today's equivalent (sound on TVs for example), and yet has now been dumped in favour of things that by comparison won't last pissing time.

Phones are probably the worst big seller item for this.. lack of security/OS updates, non-replaceable batteries and deliberate performance throttling (Apple) mean that devices people are spending up to a grand on now are worthless in 3/4 years. Top-end flagship phones being replaced 6-12 months later - with the new version having serious issues as a result of this rush (exploding batteries on the Galaxy Note 7.. reports of call issues on the brand new S9/S9+)

Cars are going the same way - not so much from a technological standpoint (my 8 year old A6 still has more toys and features than many modern equivalent) but with nonsense like insurers being allowed decide that anything over 12 years or so is suddenly an obsolete death-trap

Now, all that said, I'm a big fan of gadgets and electronics.. but it's getting ridiculous.

How old is it? What brand and model?

Only ones worth money are Sony/jvc/ikigami industrial grade broadcast monitors.
Sony trinitons are the best of the consumer grade ones so they can go for a few quid but still less than 50 and usually free.

No an old small square model.
Comparatively newer one though I think.

Anything Commodore, The older PC monitors from the 5051 and PS/2, an old Amstrad CPC monitor - all that sort of stuff will be worth a few quid.
