I recently picked up a 2008 Subaru Forester and I want to pick up some paint for touch ups. Problem is, The vin plate was removed by some lovely previous owner and there doesn't seem to be anywhere else that it is recorder on the car, so I can't get the paint code.

Is there anywhere that can tell me what the code is? Would Subaru Ireland have this info?

The VIN is on the book?

Or do you mean can the colour be identified from the VIN?

I know what a VIN plate is :D

But I would have thought that Subaru Ireland should be able tell you with the VIN the specific spec of that particular car, including the colours?

Have you tried putting it in a VIN decoder?

Had a quick go there with one and it doesnt seem to have the paint code included in the number. (make, model, where it was manufactured and the sequential number)

off topic, but is that not a big concern not having a VIN plate? they don't just fall off. The chassis number would be stamped on the chassis somewhere, don't know if you've found that

    Balls :(

I'd say try to give Subaru a ring tomorrow and see what they say, they should be able to look it up easily enough I would think.

Otherwise have a look here, seems there aren't that many colours, should be easily enough recognised?

Yep, but the vin number is also on the firewall and matches all documentation/checks I did.

Cheers. Almost 100% sure it is Platinum Silver Metallic but some sites have shown a 2nd silver that they came in, so just want to be sure. (it's the 2006-2008 model so checking the colours for a 2007 shows the other silver)
