Facebook friend requests. Or not.

    Has something changed on FB recently so that you don't get to approve, or not, friend requests?

    Twice recently I've had friends of friends pop up as connected on messenger, and it turns out that I'm also fb friends with them, despite not receiving a friend request from them. These are people I barely know and I've no interest in being fb friends with them.

    Anyone know if this is a new thing, or if some setting has changed?

    I can't see anything in settings that would suggest friends can become friends without approving them. Is it possible that someone got access to your account and added them as friends? Maybe there is a setting that I didn't see there.

    I don't think anyone could have had access to my account tbh.

    I thought I'd had a brainfreeze the first time it happened, and somehow forgot that I'd approved them, but then it happened a second time. Very strange. Both times I copped because they popped up as connected on the Messenger app. Then when I checked on FB itself, there they were as friends. No request, no approval by me. It showed in my activity log as "became friends with X" .

    Hasn't happened since, though, so maybe it was just a (pair of) glitch(es).....
