Are any of you using the http://www.3in1feeders.co.uk/..

A friend of mine has gone from a totally grass based system to investing heavily in this system.

They are expensive but compared to other creep feeders are probably value for money.

    Any thoughts or experiences ?

    Thanks

I've become a convert to them for the last two years, feeding a small amount of meal through them with grass seems to improve thrive hugely.
I haven't used it while the ewes yet are with the lambs so don't know how effective the flap is at keeping out ewes

I have one aswell, like wrangler I haven’t had it out with ewes and lambs yet but plan to put it out this week with the weather turning again.
I found it very good last year to push lambs on and then I used it to feed rolled barley to the ewes after tipping as grass was getting scarce here. Was able to stretch grass an extra month at a cost of about 50c/Ewe/week.

I used it then to feed ewes before lambing in the polly tunnel with singles on one side of the feeder and twins the other with just rolled oats and soya until 3weeks before lambing. Then I topped them up trough feeding with a nut as I was worried about minerals.

I would be interested to know what others have fed through their feeders and at what feeding rates?
Have never tried a nut with mine yet but would be interested in trying it for ewes next winter...

    who's the Irish distributors ?

Dairy direct in Kilkenny are the new sole distributors

Had mine out with one batch of ewes & lambs but I abandoned it as it got extremely mucky with the torrential rain and ewes were over & back dirtying what ever grass there was

Going to put it out this week for just the lambs & see how it works out

Was very happy with it last year feeding last of lambs

Looking At buying one of these to feed ewe lambs over winter and creep feeding lambs next year I am looking at the 800 or 500 both the same price. Any one any advice on which would be a better? According to the spec The 500 is lower which would make it easier to fill with small bags and is nearly twice has long, both seem to have 2 compartments I will be feeding on fairly exposed hill are any of them better keeping out rain.

I priced lamb ration/creep feed today in one mill in the South East. I was told 350e per ton and was going up 40e ton on Monday. I was speechless.
