PVC window not closing flush at bottom.

    Hi Folks

I have a window that is not closing flush at the bottom but is fine at the top of the window.

I've looked at the hinge but I can't see anyway of adjusting it. I found a clip on youtube (can't find it now) where they adjusted a nut that solved the problem. My hinge doesn't have that nut.

Can anyone offer advise on whether the hinges I have can be adjusted?
    Thanks

Just buy two new hinges on eBay.

Measure the ones you have and buy similar.

Thanks pauldavis123. I was hoping to avoid that. I'm in an apartment on the third floor. Is there any kind of adjustment that can be done on those hinges?

Not sure it helps, but i got a set of hinges replaced on a window with the same issues and it was €60.

Removed any responsibility from me to accidentally knock a window out into the garden. Closed perfectly afterwards.

i had this problem before, sprayed WD40 on hinges and open and close several times ,done the trick. but saying that my mother in law recently had same problem and this didn't work ,but still might be worth ago.

Looks like the standard munster joinery windows that half the Celtic Tiger was fitted out with.

I don't think there is any adjustment on the window that you can do, but the issue is with the hinge itself failing to get to the right point to pull the window in. As above, try some WD40 and it might free up, or look for a local handyman who has experience in replacing the hinges. I see posts to replace these in my local Facebook groups all the time, so you may have the same in your area.

Lock the window, take the glass out

open window and tie a rope thru the open frame.

Remove the hinge screws and lift window into the room you are in.

Not simple but certainly not hard ;-)

That's a lot of messing about. Chap that did mine just held it and was in and out in 5 minutes. I'd say doing one at a time, and getting someone else to hold it, and you'd be grand.

(or just pay someone else, obviously). With the warmer weather on the way it mightn't be a big deal, so you can save up and get it done in september or such, etc.

Thanks folks, I think I'll go down the handyman route. Safer all round.
