Hi, just wondering if there were any groups in Dublin for lgbtq parents (so lgbtq people with children)? Myself and my wife have a wonderful daughter together but we don't know anyone else in a similar situation and would love to meet people. We're finding it really difficult to find any information on various issues such as guardianship, passports etc. and would love to talk to people in similar situations. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    Hi SM,

Just in relation to the issue of guardianship, you might be interested in the outcome of this case since the introduction of the Children and Family Relationships Act 2015 -

Thanks for that! Unfortunately this does not apply in our case as our daughter has to be 2 years old before my wife can apply for guardianship, even though we are married. Up until that point we're in limbo with regards to passports etc, just wondering anyone else had success under a different avenue or something hadn't tried. The info out there is like finding a needle in a haystack!

It was so much easier to blame it on Them. It was bleakly depressing to think that They were Us. If it was Them, then nothing was anyone's fault. If it was us, what did that make Me? After all, I'm one of Us. I must be. I've certainly never thought of myself as one of Them. No one ever thinks of themselves as one of Them. We're always one of Us. It's Them that do the bad things.
