Rule in how many dishes a house can have?

Is there one? Basically my neighbour has 4 dishes in their back garden at the end of garden on top of shed (so at our wall height) One very large and three medium size.

They are all in their garden but at my side of wall.

Issue for me is that they are plain ugly to look at and we now live to the back of our house so have to look at them every day.

Is there any rule or is it that its their garden so tough luck?

    Thanks

1 is all you're allowed have without planning permission on a house but there's no rules elsewhere. Are they overhanging on to your property?
A satellite dish (up to 1 metre in diameter, and no higher than the top of the roof) at the back or side of the house (a dish on the front needs planning permission). Only one dish may be erected on a house.

    The regulation says
    Exempted Development CLASS 4

    (a) The erection of a wireless or television antenna, other than a satellite television signal receiving antenna, on the roof of a house.

The height of the antenna above the roof of the house shall not exceed 6 metres.

    (b) The erection on or within the curtilage of a house, of a dish type antenna used for the receiving and transmitting of signals from satellites.

    1. Not more than one such antenna shall be erected on, or within the curtilage of a house.

    2. The diameter of any such antenna shall not exceed 1 metre.

    3. No such antenna shall be erected on, or forward of, the front wall of the house.

    4. No such antenna shall be erected on the front roof slope of the house or higher than the highest part of the roof of the house.

Something like the Wavefrontier T90 Toroidal Satellite Dish can be used to replace multiple dishes if they aren't too far apart.

    Or you could plant trees.

How long were the dishes up ?
After X number of years you can't contest some planning issues.

Thanks, one is slightly overhanging.the other three aren't but in full view.... I have thought about making our wall slightly higher to block it out a little

They aren't on the house (they actually have a dish and an TV antenna on the house itself but no issue with these)

So am I right from reading that if they are on their shed then those rules don't apply or does it cover both house and shed/garden area?

I do wonder why they have so many, two on the shed are quite rusty, assume not all work...

    Thanks for replying

Oh they've been up since we bought hous, about three years. Always annoyed me but didn't do anything but now we live to back of house they are more of a nuisance and in full view all the time.

Not sure if it makes a difference but the neighbours rent their property but have been their very long term I believe, 10plus years

Why do they have so many?

The shed would fall within the curtilage of the house, so according to the regulations only 1 dish of no more than 1m in size on the property is exempt from planning. More than that requires planning permission.

Why do they have so many?

They are most likely being used to get channels from different satellites, lots of people have an interest in this as you can get lots of stuff free that's subscription here like sports etc. There is even a sister forum this one called "foreign satellite" which discusses this stuff.

The person obviously has an interest in this. The op on the other hand sounds like a pain trying to interfere in their neighbours hobby that's doing absolutely nothing on them whatsoever.

28 degrees East does UK TV, 19 East for German, 13 for Italian , 9 for Ireland etc.

Many foreign channels do English audio too. Also there are a lot of foreigners here that speak Polish and stuff

Cant believe this thread and thought I'd gove my 2 cents worth.
I'm no expert here but while the law applies to 1 fixed dish in Ireland your neighbour could get around any restrictions if the dishes aren't 'Fixed' I.e. they could get them set up on temporary ground mounts. Practically fixed but easily swapped position if needed be to proved they are temporary.
I feel like the OP should wise up a bit, too easily offended maybe. There are a lot worse things to worry about than satellite dishes and if you have good neighbours? Also, if it was me and I was being forced to take down dishes that have been there long before you and I had any inkling that you had stitched me up I'd be tempted to set up even uglier stuff.
