No Fire seal in the attic. Possible?

    Hi everyone,
I live in a block of apartments. Some of them are duplexes (not mine) and apparently there is no fire seal separation or how it's called in the attic between two duplexes. I say apparently because a friend said so (he thinks so) but just looking at the wall in the neighbours attic I couldn't understand.
What we should look for? Are the fire separation those white lines visible from outside a building?
Is it possible that the constructor could build without that? Also considering we have a block insurance and I don't think there would be one without fire seal.

Sorry if I'm asking a silly question but I'm not an expert and I'm trying to understand/learn.
    Thanks,
    Markus

Engage an architect, engineer or building surveyor to come out and give an opinion. It may involve cooperation with the adjoining units around with incase a small section of wall needs to be opened up.

I’m assuming a timber frame construction?

Ok thanks for the suggestion. Yes it's a timber frame. I'm not going to engage anyone to be honest because I don't have a duplex but I can suggest it.
I thought that having a block policy that wouldn't be possible, didn't they check?

Tell your friend to engage a professional then.

Is this your job? I can suggest him to contact you also. For now he is thinking to engage the management about that.
    Thanks

Of course. First thing to do is highlight the issue to the management company. They have a legal responsibility to ensure the building is fire safe.

Perfect, at this point I'm also curious: maybe a check of the entire block will be required.
