Looking at getting one of these soon. Loads of 1.8s out there but where are all the 2.0 litres? Same tax under the Co2 system as far as I can see so not sure why everyone opted for the 1.8.
Also if anyone can advise what the irish trim levels for these years are it would be appreciated?

The petrols seem to have a good reputation. Anyone here drive one or have one before and have an opinion on them?

I don't think the Irish market sold 2 litre petrols. Apart from that my 2008 1.8 was a perfect car, had it for 30 months, and couldn't fault it. only needed tyres and servicing. Absolute bullet proof engine. quite fun to drive, everything is tight and it sticks to the road. If i had the space i'd buy mine back from the garage now.

Ah that would explain it! A real shame as tax is the same and much nicer engine apparently. Thanks for the report on your one, appreciate it.

Is the standard wheel size 16" and tyre size 205/60?

Yep, and sport models came with 18's.

    My 2007 1.8 has 205/55 R16.
    It's the 2002 to 2007 model.

Just upgraded to a 2015 model.
Now to try and sell the old one privately !

That's taxed as CC rate too, Co2 rate would only be 570.

Didnt even check, all i can see is Transferred to an Individual on: 24/02/2018

Nothing about bought from a dealer? Could it just be to avoid paying tax arrears?

My bad, I assumed dealer or imagined it! Not sure about tax arrears but suppose its a possibility. Might have a look up north.

It's very expensive, plus the mileage is suspiciously low.

I picked my 08 1.8 petrol up last year for 3 grand, that's executive trim, so automatic headlights, dual zone climate and cruise control, plus the owner had fitted parking sensors. 137500km on the clock, two owners.

He was trying to get rid of it for months, so you should be able to do much better price wise than the one in that ad, there's still great bargains in big petrol cars second hand.

Its not, its actually cheaper than the same car in the UK (when you inc VRT etc) and the 2.0 model is rare as hell to find in an irish car.

I have a 2010 model (facelift model) and had to go to the Uk for it 18 months ago and I paid considerably more than what that car is priced at. My car was 1 owner from new with less than 40k miles on it and a full comprehensive Mazda service history.

The 2.0 engine is very reliable, much more so than the 1.8 which had common oil usage issues.
