Probably a simple question but judging by google a difficult one to answer..

    Is it known?

Is it known at least what Irish & English horse was first past the post the most times?

Good knowledge. Will have to have a look around that website. Do you know which horse won the most in the post war era?

from Thoroughbred Times Racing Almanac 2008, 990 pages (no longer published)
I strongly recommend you buy a copy of this second-hand online (for small money) from Abe Books or Bookdepository.

Winx or Black Caviar might have changed some of the records below.

    Winningest Horses of All Time
    North American Racing Only

    Kingston, 1884, h, by Spendthrift: starts 138, wins 89
    Bankrupt, 1883, g, by Spendthrift: starts 348, wins 86
King Crab, 1885, g, by Kingfisher, starts 310, wins 85
Little Minch, 1880, h, by Glenelg, starts 222, wins 85
    Hiblaze, 1935, h, by Blazes, starts 406, wins 79
Tippety Witchet, 1915, g, by Broomstick, starts 265, wins 78
Pan Zareta, 1910, m, by Abe Frank, starts 151, wins 76
    Camarero, 1951, g, by Thirteen, starts 77, wins 73
    Badge, 1885, h, by Ill-Used, starts 161, wins 70
    Raceland, 1885, g, by Billet, starts 130, wins 70
    W B Gates, 1896, g, by Prince Royal, starts 297, wins 70
(83 horses listed with 51+ wins)

    Most Consecutive Victories

    56 Camarero, 1951, Puerto Rico
    54 Kincsem, 1874, Europe
39 Galgo, Jr 1928, Puerto Rico
    23 Leviathan 1793, United States
    22 Miss Petty 1981, Australia
    22 Pooker T 1957, Puerto Roco

Camarero raced in Puerto Rico and all his wins were against local-bred horses so the opposition was weak.
Kincsem (Hungarian) raced at the top level in Hungary, Austria, Germany, France, England.
Boston 1833, United States, had two runs of consecutive wins, 17 consecutive 1836-1838, and 19 consecutive wins from 1839-1842.

    Leading Unbeaten Racehorses

    54 Kincsem, 1874, m
    18 Eclipse 1764, h
    16 Ormonde 1883, h
    16 Ribot 1952, h
    15 Colin 1905, h
    14 Nearco 1935, h

and you can add Frankel with 14.

A personal favourite is that the great Italian breeder and trainer, Federico Tesio, 1869-1954, bred four unbeaten racehorses.
    Cavaliere d'Arpino, 1926 ... 5 wins
    Nearco, 1935 ... 14 wins
    Ribot, 1952 ... 16 wins
    Braque, 1954 ... 12 wins

Tesio bought the mare Catnip 1910, at the Newmarket sales for 75 Guineas.
"Catnip had a very moderate racing record, having won one nursery handicap worth 100 pounds, and being placed once out of nine starts as a two-year-old in England, and having further run only once at three years.,"
From her he bred the mare Nogara 1928, and from Nogara he bred Nearco.
In 1938 he sold Nearco to Mr Marton Benson for 60,000 sterling.
The previous year he sold Donatello to Mr Edward Esmond for 47,500 sterling.

Tesio output averaged 17 foals a year in his most important period 1930 to 1954, with an average of 10 barren mares.
