Adding a 3rd sky box

    Hi folks,
Just a quick question for the sky gang. A pensioner friend has sky HD multi room at present. Dish is out the back, with 3 of the 4 LNB ports used; shotgun to the sitting room main tv and single to the kitchen. He wants to get a 3rd box for the bedroom but sky are looking for 200€.

A 3rd viewing card from them is an extra €16 per mth on the bill. If I was to get a used sky HD box from adverts, run a line from the dish to the bedroom and order a card, is it plug and play or will sky need to be called to commission/pair new card to purchased box? Or am I completely off the mark?

You can order a card & pair it with a used box from adverts. I upgraded all the boxes in my house a few years ago & all I had to do was call sky & tell them the viewing card number & sky box serial number.

No Irish channels, no recording and a frustrating list of channels which includes all the subscription channels which cannot be received.

On the other hand if the pensioner has broadband from Eir then the card can be enabled for Eir sports without cost.

You are referring to non-sub viewing.

    Simi, thank you.

As for the other advice, well.........

Yes I was as I had mis-read SIMI's post .... thought the card as well as the box was being sourced from Adverts ;)

dodzy if the pensioner is living alone there is a way they could have 3 or more boxes with only one sub and to pay 16 a month for 2 multi room could be seen as a total waste of money.

But perhaps money is no object. Don't worry I won't be posting in any of your further queries.

By the way the answer to my query was Yes or no, not your nasty reply.
