Should i Cancel My Vodafone Contract

Got activated last Wednesday on the 11th. No Broadband. Unsure about dial tone even as i have yet to plug in a handset(moving in this weekend; the 20th). I was advised it would be fixed by today the 18th. Vodafone have now escalated to someone somewhere in Eir as supposedly there is a major fault on my connection. I was advised i would not be on fibre in my house as i was advised when i signed up as there was no place in the cabinet- so hence 24mbps. I was also told that every other house on my street upto me had fibre but i would put on a list and transferred when available.

When i initially signed up with Vodafone i was advised of two weeks within which i could cancel. I am wondering should i cancel before this grace period as i imagine it would be hard to cancel my contract once this period of grace period is over considering god knows how long it would take to fix.

Before i go and spend half a day reading terms/conditions; does anybody know my rights; if they cannot fix this; can i cancel anytime?

Also what does no place on fibre cabinet mean. The exchange is 200 metres away so i presume all broadband connections entering that exchange are multiplexed/converted onto a fibre ring?Or does it go by dsl to the exchange and then what? Isdn over copper to the next pop or exchange? Could there be no place left for broadband connections for Vodafone at the-Baileborough-Cavan exchange or could there be an issue with the actual line from the exchange to my house?

If you're 200m from BBO then the options are VDSL from the exchange or ADSL from the exchange. With VDSL it might be 400 ports available. When consumed you need somebody else to cancel before you may order it. Means 20Mb instead of 70-80Mb.

Id guess they're seeing a dis out in the exchange as you're not jumpered / incorrectly jumpered. Usually a quick fix without techs coming to the address.
