With the replacement of the CHAdeMO in Roscommon with a triple head a few months ago and the same replacement this week in Longford, Monaghan and Ennis, the network is hugely improved for CCS cars, no longer having the north west of the country out of reach of most CCS cars (without having to resort to slow charging, wasting time)

I guess we are seeing the ring fenced EV money for fast chargers coming in action. Very welcome addition!

I was wondering about that,it's the most movement I've seen in the last two years.Hopefully Chademo users may benefit from more up-to-date and reliable chargers too (not sure how reliable the existing ones were).

It’s a shame eCars aren’t more proactive about communicating what they’re doing to the public. Would give a warm fuzzy feeling.

Whats in Cavan currently? any chance it would get swapped? Could be useful.

It would be nice if they upgraded Carlow, that would then be my local charger lol.

It's a start but I doubt we'll see new sites up and running by the end of this year as the ESB have said that the network is adequate for the amount of electrics on the road.

Lt's hope I'm wrong, Ionity should be the next chargers up and running soon hopefully.

Indeed. If you want to avoid the useless Naas FCP, it's 170km from Dublin to Waterford. A bit of a stretch in all CCS EVs, even Ioniq, although I did make it last year (mostly at the speed limits)

What other ESB CHAdeMO FCP should be upgraded, anyone?

    1. Carlow
    2. ?
    3. ?

I thought Cavan had a fast charger but seemingly it doesn't

    So

    1. Carlow
    2. Cavan
    3.

Also just for myself, the M3 Parkway, instead of 2 x slow charger why not 20 x slow charger.....

Either of the Wexford Chademos as there's no CCS coveragh from Rosslare until Gorey or Waterford.

There is only one CCS in Cork city and its in the usual stupid location.

The other CHAdeMO unit at the Topaz on Frankfield Road should be upgraded to triple head for no other reason than to have a plan B if one CCS is down.

Are these improvements definitely coming from the Government promised money after the last budget? Would also be fantastic if they could double up on FCPs at the busy sites and remove some of the single points of failure.

Have to agree with that. Having this spot as effectively a Leaf only station is crazy - and is a prime place for two triple-headed FCPs as it is a pretty busy spot with just Leafs as it is.

From my perspective (as in where I live), the following would help greatly on long journeys:

    1. Cahir (for the N24)
    2. A second one in Cork, but adding Dungarvan or Youghal for the N25 would be handy too.
    3. Knocktopher (J10 of the M9 - it's easy enough to get to off the motorway but only has ChaDeMo)
    4. Any of the Wexford/Rosslare ones (would make a ferry journey to Wales and on to England so much easier if you could drive off the ferry fully charged)

Also, just looking at the map, there is no charger at all in Tipp town!

If only this would be added to Ecars Map... I see nothing in Roscommon for CCS..

As a matter of interest Unkel, how did you find this out? Is there some sort of e-cars newsletter or URL with service updates?

    +1 on that.

I emailed ecars about the possibility of getting one of the two CHAdeMO chargers changed to CCS. The answer wasn't exactly encouraging. Those two chargers on the Rosslare road are really close together too.

This is great news. I emailed them earlier in the week in reference to monaghan but got a fairly standard reply. No mention of these oddly.
