Enhance Photos?

Hi I dont know how to use Photoshop etc, but im looking to enhance photos. Any suggestions for a total amateur? I have pictures that i want to put on a website, but i want to make them look good...enhancing colour etc. I tried a few on Fiverr and they didnt come back much better than they went over ;-)
