    just use +44 as standard. Same as you can use +353 when at home and the call will go through

    +1 for any mobile or landline number, use the +44 prefix but for freephone and reduced charge numbers beginning 08, leave out the country prefix.

    When in UK with an Irish mobile dialing a UK number you just dial it as if you are a UK mobile user so it would be something like 07712345678.

    :confused::confused::confused: +1 is for dialing USA/Canada numbers.

    Unless you meant to remind the OP to add a 1 to the +353 for dialing Dublin numbers from the UK.

    You have >2,000 posts so I assume you're not 100% serious with that comment.

    Usually you can dial a number just like the locals - e.g. dialling 07xxxx for a UK mobile should work for an Irish mobile roaming in the UK.

    But agree with Fred that it's always safe to use the full international format i.e. prefixed with +44

    Uhhhh, yeah: +1 is the international dialing code for the US not the UK, which is +44. The use of "1" in the UK (for London) was discontinued many decades ago so there's no reason to include it in this thread - unless referring to people in the UK dialing Dublin numbers.

    As a permanent roamer, I have all my numbers stored in the full international format (+1, +33, +44, +353, etc) so that I don't have to remember what country I'm in and what bits to add. Also makes caller ID more reliable.

    Erm nope. He's totally right. I'm in Ireland on a UK mobile at the moment and I dial all numbers not saved in my phone as 01xxxxxx or 087xxxxx.

    But I save all numbers in my phone in international format so it didn't matter where I am usually

    I quoted a post and started my comment with '+1' which is boards shorthand for 'I agree'.

    There was a time when you could dial Dublin from London with a pseudo area code of '0001'.
