Do businesses still take on 'interns' so to speak?

I am aware that the JobBridge scheme has been scrapped.

Is there anything that has been put in it's place so people can gain experience for a job? It's nearly impossible to find a job without experience these days, especially in childcare.

    Any ideas? :)

I am in a similar position. I have a Masters degree as well as a qualification in project management and most organisations are expecting experience that is impossible to gain. I am finding it incredibly difficult to get on the ladder.

My company still does. They work with a nearby college. Interns join on work experience for a few months. Once they finish college a job is highly likely but it'll be an entry level position.

Has anyone ever taken on someone on a purely voluntarily capacity, and the person is not affiliated with a training course, etc.?
