washing machine/dishwater water supply

I have a dishwasher in the new kitchen for the last year, no problems. On Sunday I installed a new washing machine also (previously in a utility room). There was a single cold water feed exclusive for the dishwasher so I got a 'Y' connector to split the feed for the washing machine and dishwasher. This cold water feed is direct from the mains.

The washing machine worked fine on Sunday, although it did give a warning of low water pressure on the panel. Yesterday evening I turned on the dishwasher and it wouldn't work, so I turned it off and tried the washing machine and it won't work either. Warning on the panel is for no water at all....

So my question is how do I set these up so I can get a consistent supply into both? Just to clarify, I would not be using either of them together, at the same time, it would always be one or the other.

Something is wrong if your not getting water to either appliance. The normal appliance valve only needs a 1/4 turn to open/close it. It could be that the valve is almost closed. Often the plastic end-stops on the little leaver break so its quite easy to go past the fully open position.

Sometimes it's the obvious things I miss.... The valve was partly closed. Must have been when I was putting stuff back into the sink press and it got a knock!

Thanks for mentioning that, all working fine now!
