Where to buy Ultegra Di2?

I’ve decided to upgrade my 10 speed 105 / FSA mix to Ultegra Di2. This is something I’ve been thinking about for a long time and have finally decided to pull the trigger. I don’t need to do it but have been able to justify it to myself and that’s really all that counts!

It seems however that there are limited places to buy it at the moment – PBK has the 6870 for £995 (€1,152) but if looking at the 8050 there seems to be limited enough options.

    From what I can see…
Merlin have it for £1,050 (€1,215) including the at the checkout discount of £149.
    Mantel have it for €1,399.
    Evans are at £1,200 (€1,389).
Cycle superstore are €1,239 but with 105 brakes.

Has anyone any thoughts on where else it might be available? I need to nail down a couple of things with my LBS before going ahead, as the seatpost isn’t designed to take a battery (2014 frame with aero post) and the bottom bracket may require an adaptor. Other than that I’m ready to go 😊

I'm not sure I'd spend a lot extra on getting the 8000 series - the improvements seem minimal enough. Maybe try shopping harder for the 6800?

it appears that it's being phased out - Wiggle for example say it's no longer available but don't give an option for a stock alert, meaning that it's not coming back in. even the one at PBK above has limited options for the cassette for example, so I suspect their stock is running down.
Merlin also have limited options in the 6870, no 175mm 34/50 which is what I'm looking for. Ribble out of stock, bike-discount.de don't do the full groupset etc.

I have already looked around quite a lot! Was just hoping that someone here might know of somewhere else that I could save a few €.

Isn’t the 8000 programmable so you can have a semi automatic set up?

    bike-components.de do lots of gruppo's
    but haven't checked

what about Sram eTAp isn't the shifting set about €1100 ?
and you won't need to worry about the seat post battery etc

of course then you'd need a crankset etc...didn't factor that in

Ultegra 6870 is also programmable. You can have normal shifting, semi synchro or full synchro shifting.

    Here’s an option:

    - buy di2 shifters (inc cables) and di2 derailleurs (short cage) separately for €490

    https://www.merlincycles.com/shimano-ultegra-6870-di2-sti-levers-65272.html
    https://www.merlincycles.com/shimano-ultegra-6870-di2-front-derailleur-65270.html
    https://www.merlincycles.com/shimano-ultegra-6870-di2-rear-derailleur-65271.html

    - Buy groupset for €575 https://www.merlincycles.com/shimano-ultegra-6800-groupset-62928.html

Total is €1,065. Sell the non di2 shifters and derailleurs. Should be able to get €250ish

    Nets off at €815

Potentially could get cheaper components if really want to shop around

Picked the new di2 in the cycle superstore recently . It came with the new ultegra calipers so that could be just a typo in the description. It’s absolutely brilliant too . The buttons on the top of the hoods are great too .
    It’s a joy to use .

Don't forget the battery, junction box and electric wires will prob add another 250.

Yeah, Pretty certain that’s it alright , was happy enough with the price in fairness .

thanks for that. yeah it's certainly not a bad price relative to the others that I've found online. interesting alright that the picture on the page on the CSS site has the Ultegra calipers but the description has otherwise. good to hear it's the Ultegras that are included!

last question - did they fit it for you and what was the charge if so?

Sure did I’ll send you the details there .
