who grants Irish exemption?

Hi. Can anyone please tell me this, in your secondary school, who grants the Irish exemption? Is it processed in the school by the principal or is the application paperwork sent to the dept of Ed.? Thanks

As far as I can recall it's processed via the school, they submit the relevant paper work for it and the student will need to provide the documentation to support the exemption.
